the color purple

We were coloring eggs yesterday (or should I say Gwen was, with supervision from Alexandria and management by her (great) aunt Barbara and her dad...I was busy feeding her insatiable brother). Paint brush in hand, Gwen had a palate of at least 8 colors in front of her and yet every egg she produced was...you guesed it...purple. Now my color preferences are well documented. We even painted her room purple. I had always figured that would mean Gwen would competely echew the color once she was old enough to speak. Apparently not. :)

Toddler radar

Children are much more perceptive than we give them credit for. Gwen got up at 6 am Easter morning and walked into our room. While there was some seepage of sunlight through the blind, the room was essentially dark. That notwithstanding, as she passed between the dresser and the foot of our bed, her eyes were irresistibly drawn to, and subsequently fixed upon, her Easter basket. Is it that she could smell the candy? Or just that any small change to the regular vista attracts her radar? The two year brain is a marvel. Because, as it is, she already doesn't see books that need to be replaced, toys that need to be put away, or indeed her fork right next to her plate as she digs into her mashed potatoes with her fingers.

Tickling

I sometimes think that tickling is just a veiled form of torture. I know Dave used it on me when I was young...but then it was just as powerful a weapon in retaliation. That being said, Calvin is way ticklish. He laughs as you dress or undress him, stroke his cheek, change his diaper (this is a little disconcerting) rub his belly, pretend to eat his feet, just about any old time. Is he a masochist or...?

sugar

I must confess. Today my daughter was high. Fortunately sugar and caffeine are legal drugs so Tony and I cannot be brought up on charges but legal or not she was whacked. Buzzing around, falling hard and laughing maniacally, maikimg up nonsensical songs, talking to herself and laughing for no reason. It was very scary. Thank goodness Easter is but once a year...then of course there is Halloween and Christmas but I digress...

Gwen's ego

Yesterday my very affectionate daughter said to me "I Love you Mommy." Of course my heart melted and I replied similarly, "I love you too, very much. What did she say next? "I love me too." I guess Tony and I have done a good job of fostering her ego.

I guess I'm supposed to write here

If Tony's unofficial role in our family is as photo-documentarian it is my job to script our lives. So I guess it's safe to say i'll be posting anecdotes as they happen...if they happen.
Today's highlight...Calvin napped for three hours this morning. I guess that means he won't sleep until midnight tonight. I'll keep you posted (pun intended).

Its new!

We lost our 256Meg card in our camera... it no longer works. This is why we have not been posting photos for a while. Here are a few... enjoy the posts.

The old poncho! Gwen loves to wear her poncho. It is comfortable, and warm. Here is one of her book reading poses. She is going to be a reader like Mom and Dad. Posted by Hello

Gwendolyn loves her new (or is it old) night gown. Pam used this night gown when she was a little girl. Posted by Hello

Calvin likes to guide his fork. This is to ensure he gets his food quickly, efficiently and as messily as possible. Posted by Hello

Ah ha! Time to feed Calvin! It seems that he loves to eat. So far he has eaten oatmeal, rice, banana, pear, peas, and sweet potato. He says no to no food, just like Dad. Posted by Hello

The nightly reading ritual is in place. Read Gwen a story. Calvin seems to be listening a little more now. Posted by Hello

Hmmm. Is this kid trying to tell Dad and Mom something? Is the reason he's not eating due to the fact he needs more food? Could be! Posted by Hello

Calvin enjoys some quality time with Mom. This is the only way he goes to sleep. Bind his arms will you... Posted by Hello

Ah! Asleep at last! This is a rare and joyous occasion. Posted by Hello

Calvin in his cute jean jacket. Or is that "handsome" jean jacket.

The Beginning of a good thing...

I've been sending out messages in e-mail format for quite a while now. This blog will assist me in reaching many more people that we know. The blog will be possibly a weekly summary of the life of Pam and Tony. We will include cute photos of our children, and funny stories that may have occurred. Friends and family members can read our blog, and comment as they see fit. I hope you enjoy our blog.
