Out of the mouths of Babes

Gwen has always scared of loud noises, particularly power tools. So in an effort to acclimatize her to them, I would explain what the tool was, how it works, and show her how I use it. She is not quite so scared of them now, and knows the sounds they make. One day, while I was outside on the deck with her, we heard a power tool in the distance. It sounded like a power drill, which is very close to the sound my drill/screw-driver makes when being used. She promptly looked at me with her wide eyes, and said: "Dad, the neighbors are screwing!" Not having had the oppurtunity to play poker in a long time, I quickly called up that long forgotten skill of a poker face, and utilized it then and there. I said, "Yes Gwen, they most certainly are." Later on in the day, when I told Pam, we laughed, and laughed, and laughed...
